What RPGs do you like? I never seemed to have a favorite genre of games, but I've realized that most of the games I ended up loving are RPGs. My favorites are probably the xeno line of games (xenosaga, xenoblade, xenogears), Persona (notably 2 and 3) and fire emblem (does that count? i think it does..) but i also love final fantasy, it's just that I don't have a lot of time to play them all (all 20 or so games? 30?)
so it has me wondering, what games am i missing out on? what games do you like?

I'd highly recommend Pathologic, especially the first one, but it's not quite for everyone. They story is insane and really good though

I like Skyrim a LOT! I've probably got thousands of hours logged into that game across every console I've played it on

SKIDS IN, YAKUZA, I LOVE THAT SERIES, my favorite is Y0, though Ive heard Y7 is more traditionally rpg-like, with like a party and turn-based combat
other than that, Ive got a fondness for the Tales games, especially Abyss, from watching lets plays as a kid :>

definitely a WAY older example but the mother series! highly highly recommend those games, they're easy to emulate but I'd suggest starting with Earthbound since Mother 1 is hard as hell and unforgiving.

These games all seem pretty good! I couldn't get into skyrim much, but i know that a lot of my friends do like it. The MOTHER series and Yakuza are ones i want to play as well, i've only heard great things about those games. I took a look at pathologic and i like the artstyle, if I get the time I might check it out more.
Recently i've been playing xenoblade chronicles, though I got stuck at one of the bosses and i'm not looking forward to all the grinding i'll need to do.. but XBC 3 was amazing and i recommend it a LOT, if you like MMO type gameplay and RPG-ish gameplay with a large open world I'd get it. it's been out for a while so it should be a lot lower in price now too.

rpgs...!
technically pokemon is an RPG, which feels weird to me, but i have to mention it. although honestly, my brainrot is moreso for the anime side of things.
i also love fire emblem! my username is a reference to it - right before three houses came out, i replayed fates and got really attached to mozu x takumi. then this spring, my irl got super into fates and so i emulated about 100 hours of it while bored in class. my irl and i ended up having matching graduation toppers themed around hoshido and nohr. fates isnt even a good game. but it sure does compel me.
i've played persona 3 and 4, and loved both of them. i own persona 5 and plan to play it at some point, but i know once i do i'm gonna have to sink a lot of hours into it, and i don't really have that kind of time in my life rn. but it awaits...!

I mostly play games my brother either recommended or at least found first, so Skyrim, Fallout: New Vegas, and Fallout 3 are my main ones. The only ones I've really gotten into on my own are the Mass Effect series, altho I still haven't played ME3 (weirdly I have played through a good chunk of Andromeda tho).

seconding pathologic! its one of my favorites, it has such an interesting atmosphere.
i love rpgmaker games like OFF, yume nikki, and pen palz. lately ive been hooked on re:kinder and heisei pistol show, they have such a unique style to them
i also recently finished playing persona 5 with a friend and we plan on playing through the rest of the games in the series! i excited for the remake of persona 3, but i think we're going to play the original version first to compare any differences.

I really liked persona 5 (and royal) but sometimes the dungeons confused me pretty hard. Persona 3 is my favorite of the series, and I totally recommend playing the original if you can. P3P was also an amazing experience too, getting persona 3 on the go was a lifesaver for me a few years ago LOL! the OST is also suuuuuuper good. I'm not sure if i'll pick up the remake, seeing as it's more expensive than the original release was. (Maybe i'll wait a few months and see if the price drops?)
and @mozukumi , the graduation toppers sounds so cool! personally i liked fates, yeah the story was..unique, but i really liked the gameplay and the overall quirk of the characters. I think my favorite character from fates is azura, though it's hard to pick a favorite. I really want to play path of radiance but i told myself that I need to finish awakening first.. and my irl LOVES pokemon. like she's crazy about it. has a ton of merch and I swear she knows every pokemon by it's silhouette, and wants to get as many shiny pokemon as she can. I'm very impressed by her work ethic in pokemon.

:') mario and luigi bowser's inside story will always be near and dear to my heart<3<3<3 the WHIMSYYY and the soundtrack slaps. I spent hours as a kid just standing around and listening intently to the differences in the music outside/inside of bowser JSDHSF it was always so cool to me how they were different. Also undertale foreverrrr<3<3<3<3<3 formative to me FOR SURE.
